3AM Wednesday 7th May 2014 Nunhead Heights

This week, just as The Independent newspaper is calling me a “London Institution”, I’m forced to change venues. Typical Schafferianism.

Lewis Schaffer is Free until Famous – the longest-running solo comedy show in London – is moving as of today, Wednesday, May 7th, 2014.

I’ve spent five wonderful years and almost 500 performances at The Source Below. What happened? “New management going in a new direction.” That is the same thing my wife told me. I will miss the place and my love and thanks go to the many people I worked with there.

Now find me at The Rancho Grill at 8 Sackville Street, W1S 3DG, steps from Regent Street and the Piccadilly Circus tube station. Come on down tonight and open the place up. More subterranean homesick blues.

Leicester Square Shows:

Sunday’s Lewis Schaffer: American in London at the Leicester Square Theatre is at 6pm – a great time for comedy. How is it different from the free show and worth £10? It is. I don’t know why but it is. Please get your tickets now.

Edinburgh Festival 2014:

For those going up to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this August, I wrote a post about what I am doing at the fringe. It has information about my own show “Success Is Not An Option” and my compering a group show “Old Folks Telling Jokes” even though I am hardly old. Tickets are not for sale yet for either show. I let you know when.

In print this week:

“A London Institution” is what the prestigious The Independent newspaper called me and my show last week. Thank you Luke Blackall for coming down to video me in action on my last day at the Source, even though I didn’t know it was my last day.

Liam Lonergan’s MA dissertation about me got him a first. That is very good. Read some of it here and tell me what it means.

John Fleming recorded diva Karen O Novak and me “talking cock” at a party and made it into a post. Read that here. I’m told it is interesting.

On the radio:

Last Monday’s Nunhead American Radio with out-there comic Scott Capurro has been uploaded. He’s funny and also nice to me, and I was nice to him even though he arrived at the studio late. Listen here on soundcloud.

Nunhead American Radio has a sponsor. Washboard Cleaners of Nunhead Heights. Don’t stress. They wash and press.

Next Monday’s show is scheduled to have Lynn Ruth Miller as a guest. She is an octogenarian American comic and my role model in life, plus Doug Brooks from Friends of One Tree Hill. Monday, May 12th, 2014 at 6:30 PM UK time or 1:30 PM NYC time at www.resonancefm.com/listen or 104.4 FM.

Let the love flow
