Nunhead Beats the Bounds is a GO!

Our Annual Parade around Nunhead – Nunhead Beats the Bounds – is set for Saturday, July 2nd at 2PM. Meet at The Old Nun’s Head Pub on Nunhead Green.  This will be our fourth year of local community-building and general Britishness. Four!

This year we will be walking up to One Tree Hill (which is in Nunhead Heights no matter what people in Lewisham think). We used to walk all the way around Nunhead but that proved too long a slog – almost five miles. I just used the word “slog”.

See you there for a couple of hours and a good time.

Nunhead Train Station is closest station to the start but you can go to Peckham Rye (Overground, Britrail (?!)). The 78 bus goes to the door but you could also take the 37, P12, 343, 484 buses and walk five minutes. The 63, 12, 363 go pretty close, too, an 8 minute walk.

Other Local Issue:

The same council that is giving us money for this parade is in the process of cutting down trees, mounding over the graves of local people, scraping away their memorials and then selling the space above their graves to people who haven’t been told they are buying space above the dead. This is a national issue of huge importance!
